Standards & Platform
One of the main tasks of the Platform is to develop evaluation standards, to elaborate, cultivate, apply and reinforce minimum requirements such as relevant practical experience for evaluating projects, programs and institutions in our political field.
Why standards?
In general, standards should support the activities of the Platform to increase the evaluation culture in Austria. In particular, standards provide a framework and a code of conduct for both evaluators, authorizing institutions and those evaluated. Thus a higher level of obligation and security for all parties involved can be achieved. Besides steps in planning and learning, qualitative aspects concerning further developments can be accomplished in a better and more deliberate way.
A further central function is simplifying procedures when planning and carrying out evaluations. Various levels of use are possible:
Support for formulating Terms of Reference (TOR),
Support for drafting evaluation systems,
Support for outlining the design of a specific evaluation.
